First launched in 1996, Meridian 59 pioneered the 3D MMORPG genre. The game boasts a rich history and has undergone numerous updates. After multiple ownership changes, it returned to its original creators in 2009 and went open-source in 2012, allowing for community-driven enhancements. Despite these changes, the core gameplay remains true to its 90s roots. As a fantasy RPG, players can hone their spells and skills, embark on challenging quests and puzzles, and engage in thrilling combat with monsters or other players to enhance their characters. The original servers (101 and 102), launched by Near Death Studios in 2002, are still operational under the care of Meridian 59's original creators, preserving its historical essence. In August 2018, the client for these original servers was made available on Steam!

In this project, we've revitalized this beloved game with a new 3D client, modernizing both graphics and controls while staying true to its 90s roots. Our latest version 3.0 (previously known as 'Requiem'), the culmination of years of development, significantly expands upon the original world map. Players can now explore two newly completed towns, Jixa and Berg, each filled with unique adventures, new monsters, and exciting discoveries. The expansion introduces the Roguecraft skills school and an arsenal of new weapons, alongside interactive objects and various quality-of-life improvements.
